This hospital was founded as a small cottage hospital in 1920 and was paid for by the miners of the Abertillery area, via a subscription levied on their wages. It was designed by Walter Prosser of Newport, in the Art and Crafts style and compromises of two brick-built, two-storey parallel ranges with steeply hipped, clay tiled roofs. NJR 01/12/2008
