The Lady Winsdor Hall and Institute, Ynysybwl, was opened on 4 August 1904 by Mrs Davies (the mother of David Davies, the Chairman of the Ocean Coal Company). Designed by Jacob Rees, a Pentre architect, and built by Messrs Williams Bros, Ynysybwl, it cost £4,684. The Institute comprised a 700-capacity theatre, a lesser hall, library and reading rooms, committee rooms, and refreshment rooms. A cinema was operated here from the 1920s and had a capacity of 460 seats. Demolished in the 1990s, the site now consists of flats.
