The oldest part of Pill Recreation Ground opened in 1911 to mark the coronation of King George V and was a relatively small recreation ground in contrast to the Athletics Ground situated over the road. With the demolition of much of Price Street, Lime Street, Jeddo Street, Baldwin Street, and Pottery Terrace in the course of the 1980s, Coronation Park was expanded substantially and is today one of the main public recreation areas in the city. Providing facilities for soccer, rugby, and baseball, Coronation Park is a regular host of international baseball matches particularly those between England and Wales.
