Constructed between the wars, the Aberfan and Merthyr Vale Miners' Welfare Hall was constructed on the site of a former picture theatre (cinema). Though demolished a few years after the Aberfan Disaster of 1966, the Hall was used for a memorial concert in 1967. The site is now a doctor's surgery.
