DisgrifiadConstructed at the end of the 1930s, Grovesend Welfare Hall came into being following a grant from the Miners' Welfare Fund. The original intention of the local welfare association was to build an institute, library and public hall. When the building was first opened, it had covenants restricting the sale of alcohol and gambling on the premises. In later years these were removed and this enabled the building to survive as a social club as the mining industry declined. This remains its present purpose.
