3. Ancient residence of the Bulkeley's. The original house was built in the C15, and was a H-plan type house, with a central hall and flanking wings. The most significant feature was the Great Hall, originally with an open roof although later with a highly decorated C16 plaster ceiling, Gothic windows with trefoil heads, and Tudor-arch fireplace. The later house is late C16, and few details are known of its plan other than that it had a ground floor parlour with an ornamental ceiling.
