Description
The church of the Holy Nativity is located on Windsor Road at its forked junction with Plassey Street. It was built in 1893-4 to designs of C.B.Fowler and F.R.Kempson. It is a cheap mission church comprising nave and lower chancel, and transepts to serve as vestry and schoolroom. There is a west bellcote, now truncated. The building is built of Lias limestone with Bath stone dressings, the interior faced with meagre bands of red. Stained glass consists of grissaille (monochrome painting) in most windows with touches of yellow and red. The east window, depicting the crucifixion, dates from 1899.
