Description
Melincwrt Ironworks started in 1708 and converted from charcoal to coke circa 1795, and then closed in 1808. The pig iron that it produced was taken to the Dylais Forge at Aberdulais for conversion into wrought iron. The site is known to have had a blast furnace powered by a waterwheel, an 'air-furnace', a finery and foundry, and ancillary buildings.
