Description

Exploration of one of three mounds, described as 'collections of flat slate slabs' upon the summit of Pen Dinas, that had been associated with the activities of the Ordnance Survey, was reported in 1938 ('Historical Finds on Welsh Mountains' Western Mail 6th Sept. 1938); human bones & 'plate armour' were said to have been found in a stone cist, & were identified as a medieval burial: the occurrence of what should be regarded as some form of iron artefact with a cist inhumation, could suggest a later-prehistoric, rather than a medieval date.
