Description
On the Brymbo and Minera Branch of the North Wales Mineral Railway (nprn 408705), opened in 1847, was Moss Incline, a rope-worked incline at a gradient of 1 in 3.5. It was abandoned, along with the adjacent Moss Tunnel (nprn 408710), when a new Brymbo branch line was built from Croes Newydd in 1862, taking a more circuitous route but with easier gradients. However, the old incline, or brake, was commemorated by the Brake Wesleyan Chapel (nprn 7507) built on the trackbed near the top in 1885.
