Description
On the Brymbo and Minera Branch of the North Wales Mineral Railway (nprn 408705), opened in 1847, lies Moss, Brymbo or Black Lane Tunnel, a 400m long, single-bore structure, whose western portal was adjacent to the later Brymbo (General) Station (nprn 41380). It was abandoned, along with the adjacent Moss Incline (nprn 408709), when a new Brymbo branch line was built from Croes Newydd in 1862, taking a more circuitous route but with easier gradients. Black Lane Colliery (nprn 408711) was commenced over Moss Tunnel after its closure.
