Description
Cropmarks show a broad, curving ditch in fields to the north-east of the church (NPRN 307441) which continues the line of a curving field bank on the east side of the church, suggesting the partial survival and fossilisation of a substantial outer defended enclosure c.200m diameter, with the church presently standing at its centre. It is difficult to ascertain whether the enclosure would have had Iron Age origins, or is a product of later ecclesiastical activity on site. Recorded during RCAHMW aerial reconnaissance on 11th June 2009.
