Description
Bearing a date of 1924, this Memorial Hall, known locally as 'the Memo', has a dancehall on the ground floor and a combined cinema/theatre above. Linked to the adjoining Workmen's Institute (nprn 409112), its tall three storey frontage faces the High Street and is a three bay front. It is built in pressed red brick with yellow brick and bathstone dressings. The side and rear elevations are built in local stone also with yellow brick dressings and it has a hipped slate roof with a large louvred ventilator. The front area is bounded by a low wall with brick piers and decorative iron gates and railings.
