Type Of SiteWORKING MENS INSTITUTE
Period20th Century
DescriptionThe Bargoed & District Workmen's Institute opened in 1913 (at a cost of £6,400) as a larger replacement of an earlier workmen's library opened c.1903. It contained typical institute features such as a library and reading room, public hall, and committee rooms as well as an outdoor bowling green and an unusual flat room used for summer games. The building remains extant and is in use by the local chamber of commerce for their training division.
