Description
Opened in 1913, the Nine Mile Point Workmen's Hall in Cwmfelinfach contained a library and reading room, billiards room, a gymnasium, swimming baths, and a public hall (capacity 900). The workmen of Nine Mile Point began operating a cinema in the public hall almost immediately following the opening of the Institute. According to the Kinematograph Year Book published in 1914, the capacity of the cinema was 1,000 people. Now demolished, though it remained extant into the 1990s, the hall was used in its later life as a leisure centre and snooker hall and also had a hairdressing salon inside.
