Description
Llandybie Memorial Hall & Institute opened in 1925 at a cost of £4,300. A grant of £2,000 was received from the Miners' Welfare Fund and the rest was met through local subscription and the miners levy. A cinema operated in the building from 1946 to 1960 and outdoor recreational facilities such as the bowling green, tennis courts, and children's playground were also added though these were transferred to the local council in 1989 to concentrate on the maintenance of the Hall itself. Extensive refurbishments took place in 2007 and 2008 and the Hall remains in use as a social venue.
