Description
The North End (Scwrfa) Miners Welfare Hall opened in 1926 and was a branch of the Tredegar Workmen's Institute. Constructed in 1925 at a cost of £5,100, the building benefitted from a grant from the Miners' Welfare Fund totalling £2,500. Providing a billiards room, games room, reading room and branch library, the Hall remained in use for its original purpose until the mid-1970s when it was sold to the education department of the local council. Becoming part of Glanhowy Primary School, the building has since been used as a canteen.
