This field name is recorded on the mid-nineteenth century Tithe schedule, and indicates the possible existence of a chapel in this vicinity. At this time the field belonged to New Inn Cottage. The cottage is depicted as `Cwtch Bach?on modern Ordnance Survey mapping. The cottage is some 170m south of the field in question. The field is now one large field, but historic (1888) Ordnance Survey mapping shows the large field split into three horizontal fields, with Parc y Capel being the thinner (some 26m north-south at its narrowest point), irregularly shaped middle one.
