The Ikea superstore, constructed on the site of Grangetown's former gas works, is the third largest Ikea store in the UK. As part of the development the company gave Cardiff council £3m towards traffic improvements.

Ikea Cardiff opened on 6 November 2003. It covers an area of 25,000 square metersand has a 1200-space car park.
