DescriptionThe site comprises a farmstead named Heneglwys, which may be on the site of an early medieval church. The name `Hen eglwys? (old church) indicates that it may be the precursor of St Giles? Church (NPRN 421023), located some 600m to the east within the planted Anglo-Norman settelent of Letterson (thought to have been established before 1120). The St Giles dedication of Letterston Church is a corruption of the Celtic dediaction to St Sulien, which may have been the dedication of the original church at Heneglwys.
