Description
St Nicholas 1 is a roman-letter inscribed stone of fine-grained ingneous rock. Current location is inside St Nicholas? Church (NPRN 423639), set against the west wall of the cancel to the south of the chancel arch. First recorded in 1698 on the south side of the churchyard, east of the porch. The inscription is one of only a handful to commemorate a woman.

Dimensions are given as 46cm height x 85cm width x 20cm diameter. The inscription has been translated as `of Tunccetaca, wife of Daarus, here she lies?. Immediately below the inscription is an uneven, linear cross. It is unclear whether the two are contemporary and both have been assigned a 6th-century date.
