Description
The site of Eglwys y Gwyddelod is situated some 2.5km east of Llanegryn. This building was situated immediately east of a disused quarry (depicted as disused on 1889 Ordnace Survey mapping). It was visited by RCAHMW staff in 1914, and was noted to consist of the remains of a rectilinear enclosure, orientated east-west. The western section of the building was noted to have been completely destroyed by quarrying. Measurements are given as 12ft width at the east end, with 10ft of the north wall remaining. The walls were noted to be 3ft thick. Historic (1889) Ordnance Survey mapping depicts a footpath to the immediate west of the site. This is not visible on modern Ordnance Survey mapping.
