Description
Former Cow & Gate, latterly Dairy Crest, creamery, adjacent to the south Wales main railway line and formerly rail connected.
In 1947-8 the site was noted as being operated by Wiltshire United Dairies Ltd
In 2000, the site was noted as closed as a milk processing plant; it has recently been in a number of alternative uses but is now largely derelict although intact. A new creamery (nprn 309680) has been built to the south and is currently in use by St. Ivel Ltd.
There are photographs of the building in a privately-owned album of photographs and documents in a scrapbook produced by P. F. Carter to provide a record of the development of the milk industry in West Wales 1928-1961. See People's Collection Wales www.peoplescollection.wales/items/491804 and 491962.
