The first Saint Athan Methodist Chapel was built in 1813, enlarged in 1845 and again in 1878. The chapel was rebuilt in 1913 to the design of architects Speir and Beavan of Cardiff, but this chapel had to be demolished in 1970 as part of a road widening scheme and rebuilt on new site about one mile away.
