A low eminence above the Ebbw valley near Rhiwderin appears to have been used for defensive purposes. It measures some 80m north-east by south-west by 60m, the natural scarp edges having been artificially embanked. The only traces of such embanking, however, now lie on the south where an inner scarp rises to no more than 0.3m.
