Pontypool and District Hospital was established as a voluntary hospital in c.1903, later becoming a general NHS hospital. It was a substantial stone-faced building of 2 and 3 storeys on two levels, with castle-like semi-turrets and parapets.

The hospital was closed in February 1994 and demolished shortly thereafter.
