Hospitals in Wales

The medical history of Wales is long and complex, incorporating legendary medieval physicians, professional and ‘traditional’ early modern practitioners, and the development of localised healthcare systems which inspired the modern National Health Service. Part of this history is reflected in the diversity of Wales’s hospitals – from medieval ruins, to structures built or adapted during wartime, to modern facilities.
