DescriptionYniston farm has medieval origins although the present farmhouse was probably built in the C17 as sections of the eastern side of the house contain walls of this period. The bulk of the house dates from the extensive alterations and extensions undertaken by the Bute Estate in 1864. The house is a two-storey structure of random rubble construction, originally with a thatched roof although this was replaced with slates in the C19.
