DescriptionLlechryd is mentioned in de Beckeke's survey of Denbigh in 1334 and is traditionally taken to be the birthplace of Iolo Goch (c1320-c1398), the great medieval Welsh poet.
This house is close to the earlier dwelling which remains but is now used as a barn. A 17th century lobby-entry house, it was mentioned in 1656, but a date of 1703 on a door (now removed) is suggestive of remodelling; the house was subsequently raised and extended to the rear. It is 2 storey, with a slate roof, open fireplace, small rear wing, and celing beams exposed.
