Description
A ruined wheel pit at the site of the Hyddgen lead mine, NPRN 303628. The structure is 17m ENE-WSW, by 2.8m wide (the pit itself is 1.6m wide internally). The pit is now infilled with rubble from the structure. It is cut into the slope at its ENE end, with the WSW end formed by standing, drystone masonry, which survives to a height of 1.5m. Remnants of a small building (NPRN 285754) stand immediately to the north of the wheel pit. The feature was relatively free of vegetation when visited during Upland survey in 2005. R.P. Sambrook, Trysor, 5 January 2006
