Description
The building is a timber-framed structure, clad with corrugated iron sheeting, and is thought to be a standard pre-fabricated design intended for churches or mission rooms but here adapted for use as a community hall. The gothic style windows and other details betray the ecclesiastical origins of the design. The listing description suggests that the hall was given to the parish by the ironmaster Crawshay Bailey junior, who died in 1887. The building is not shown on the Ordnance Survey 1/2500 map of 1886 and so a date of around 1887 seems plausible.
Various names apply to this building; Talybont-on-Usk, Llandewi Skirrid, Llanddewi Skirrid and Llanthewy Skirrid.
