Description
Monmouthshire Canal Company's's tramroad was built in 1824. An inscription is carved in the central pillar, on the south side that says, 'RUMNEY RAILWAY 1826'. This is possibly the only surviving engineering work of the Rumney Tramroad and probably the oldest railway bridge in the world carrying full loads. The viaduct is currently a mineral line serving Machen Quarries (NPRN 402641).
