Type Of SiteRECTANGULAR ENCLOSURE
PeriodRoman
DescriptionDistinct field enclosure, complete on 3 sides and measuring 268m square, with well rounded corners in the Roman style. Sited on a north/south ridge at150m O.D., with land gently falling to the west. Surrounding fields respect this enclosure. The SW side is missing.
Given its rounded corners and proximity to the Roman road at Whitland, there is the outside possibility that the site is a Roman camp or fort fossilised in the landscape, although no entrances or ancient earthworks are discernable on aerial photograph sources.
Recorded during RCAHMW aerial reconnaissance.
