DescriptionA 'Brick Works' is depicted and annotated on the first edition Ordnance Survey 25in mapping of 1885 and subsequent editions, where seven circular kilns and several buildings are shown, served by various railway sidings from the Penderyn Tramway and the adjacent Vale of Neath / Great Western Railway.
According to 'Handbook of Stations', British Transport Commission, London, 1956, the owning company at that time was N.B.Allen & South Wales Refractories Ltd. On 2008 aerial photographs, several buildings on the site appear still to be standing, although the nineteenth-century circular kilns have gone.
