Description
The rope works at Grangetown were established in the 1860s to manufacture rope from hemp for use in the south Wales docks. Hemp and jute were imported from Russia and East India. The ropewalk at the rear was 340 yards in length. At its height, the works could produce 9 tons of rope per week.
