Description
Gwynedd Archaeological Trust records this site as 'a large group of round and oval mounds situated on the watershed in the angle between the road and the forest. 19th century reports of cists in this area suggests they may be burial mounds.' The sections that are revealed 'are almost entirely of peat, probably peat stacks,' and 'some mounds have been eroded by cattle trampling.' Although the mounds could be burial mounds or peat stands, they could also be pillow mounds (post-medieval rabbit warrens.)
