Description
Late C19 quarry first shown on the 2nd ed county OS map, which shows a tramway linking it with Maerdy No 3 pit (nprn 33505). Disised by the time of the 3rd ed OS map. On a steep E-facing slope the quarry face is approximately 25m N-S, cut back 6m into the slope, and with a quarry face 2-3m high. The much overgrown quarry floor includes large bouldres, and slightly further below is a level platform. Evidence of the tramway linking quarry and pit has been lost due to late C20 regrading of the hill to crete a roadway to a tip (nprn 507554) on the top of the hill.
Recorded as part of Uplands Initiative Survey. R Hayman, H&H, 06/10/2009.
