Description
Minllyn is a slate and slab quarry (nprn 310049) begun in the C19, the most productive phase of which began after the Carlyle Slate & Slab Company was formed in 1872. Work ceased in 1924. The spoil tip is on a steep S-facing slope outisde the entrance to a slate mine (nprn 527492). It measures 30m SSE-NNW x 15m, and is approximately 12m high. Covered in thin turf with much slate waste exposed.
