A banked and ditched,sub-rectangular enclosure, about 36m across, set on ground falling to the south; excavations, 1962-5 (Crossley 1965; 1979), produced evidence for two phases of discontinuous occupation, involving several sub-circular and possibly rectilinear structures; a possible Romano-British sherd was recovered.
