Description
The current HSBC Bank in Aberystwyth was built between 1908 and 1909 by Woolfall & Eccles. It is classically Edwardian in style with a three-bay channelled front with a recessed granite plinth. The taller ground floor has a dentil and bracket cornice as well as a broken segmental pediment to the centre, supported on paired Ionic columns. The Prince of Wales feathers and dragon panels are situated either side of the pediment. Small pane sash windows are located on the 1st floor with foliage ornamented architraves. The doorcase is pedimented and located on the extreme left of the street frontage.
