Event and Historical Information:
The ROVER was a wooden schooner. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 79gt, 67nt; 71ft 4in length x 18ft 7in breadth x 9ft 5in height; iron bolt; classed at Lloyds AE1, registered number 21432. At time of loss the ROVER was owned by J Codd, Wexford, where it was also registered. On 8 December 1886 the ROVER was carrying culm from Saundersfoot to Wexford under the command of master J Murphy. It was stranded on Marros Beach in a west-northwesterly force 11 gale.
