Archaeological remains associated with the loss of this vessel are not confirmed as present at this location, but may be in the vicinity (see UNNAMED WRECK, NPRN 417716).

Event and Historical Information:
The ROVER was a wooden schooner. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 79gt, 67nt; 71ft 4in length x 18ft 7in breadth x 9ft 5in height; iron bolt; classed at Lloyds AE1, registered number 21432. At time of loss the ROVER was owned by J Codd, Wexford, where it was also registered. On 8 December 1886 the ROVER was carrying culm from Saundersfoot to Wexford under the command of master J Murphy. It was stranded on Marros Beach in a west-northwesterly force 11 gale.
