Description
The Lampeter, Aberayron & New Quay Light Railway was opened between Aberayron Junction (National Grid Reference SN 58693 50294) on the Manchester & Milford Railway (nprn 91660) and the seaside town of Aberaeron in 1911. The line to New Quay was not built. The stations and halts on the line, from Aberayron Junction, were Silian Halt (nprn 41348), Blaenplwyf Halt, Talsarn Halt (nprn 41350), Ystrad (Cardigan) renamed Felin Fach in 1913 (nprn 41364), Ciliau Aeron (nprn 41368), Crossways Halt opened in 1929 (nprn 41365), Llanerch-Ayron Halt opened later in 1911 (nprn 41356) and Aberayron (nprn 34674). The line closed to passengers in 1951 and to goods in 1965 except for the section between Aberayron Junction and Green Grove siding which served the Felin Fach Creamery (nprn 91722) until 1973.
