Description
The Hafod Bridge is a road bridge that was built around 1822 and it carried the Swansea and Neath turnpike road over a small cwm. The bridge has three arches with the road going through the larger central arch, a tramroad originally went through the eastern arch, and the Burlais Brook ? which has now been culverted- went through the western arch. The bridge was widened circa 1878-1879 when a street tramway was laid over it and the two phases of construction are visible from the underside.
