Description
Queen Street tunnel, 105m (115yd) long and 3.89m (12ft 9in) wide, carried the Glamorganshire Canal (nprn 34425) under Queen Street and Tunnel Court. The tunnel had a towing path for 21m (70ft), thereafter a chain(s) fixed along the west side enabled boatmen to pull their boats through by hand, while their horses were led over the top. The canal here is on the site of the medieval town moat.
